Antique Victorian 2 Sided Engraved Forget-Me-Not Flowers Sterling Silver Collar Book Chain Necklace

During the Victorian era, in order for the message to be understood, one used a flower (or other object such as fruit) to be handed out. Forget-Me-Not flowers meant True, Undying Love.

From my own personal collection, this wonderful two sided Victorian sterling silver collar was hand crafted in England around the 1880s. This collar has Forget-Me-Not flowers and leaves hand engraved on every single link on one side. The other side has no engraving, perfect for casual outings with t-shirt and jeans! It is getting harder to find Victorian collars in condition such as this chain.

A locket or a pendant can be separated from this collar necklace and be worn on its own. With the locket/pendant removed, the bolt ring clasp can be worn hidden at the back or with the ring clasp in the front at center. This bolt ring clasp allows for other items or pendants to be suspended at front from the book chain. The book chain necklace accommodates a locket or any appropriate jeweled pendant or decorative item. A stunning and versatile antique necklace.

This collar was tested to be sterling silver, it is unmarked which is typical. Besides the normal wear, there are no damages or repairs. The overall condition is so lovely, all the links are in amazing condition!

There are slight patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth. A very beautiful original collar like this is rare to find these days and highly desirable, especially in such lovely condition.
