Beginner Weaving Loom Kit with Frame Loom - Natural Finish Weaving Loom

Learn the basics of weaving with the Weaving Loom Kit. Follow along with my instruction booklet and learn how to weave by making a set of coasters.

This kit is designed with the beginner in mind. Each coaster project will teach a new set of skills. Learn how to create patterns or shapes in your weavings. The 2nd image shows each of the 4 coaster projects you will create with this kit.

Supplies include:
*Handmade loom made from sustainably sourced maple wood
*4 different colors of wool yarn - teal, yellow, white, grey
*2 yarn needles
*28 page full color instruction booklet

The instruction booklet also provides project ideas and tips for future weavings. The last image shows additional pattern ideas. The yarn is 100% U.S. produced wool and is very easy to use for beginner weavers.

Loom measures 10" x 13" (25cm x 33cm). My looms are all handmade by me and members of my family.

1. What projects can I make with the loom?

Projects range from wall art to items with a more functional everyday use. Some ideas to get you started are:

*Larger items can be made by sewing pieces together such as placemats, scarves and larger pillows.

2. How large of a design can I make?

The actual size of a finished piece of fabric will be about 8.5" x 9" (20cm x 22cm).


3. Can I make a blanket with this loom?

Weaving on a hand loom is a slow process which is why many weavers use the floor looms for projects as large as a blanket. You may feel discouraged if you find making a blanket very time consuming. If you are dedicated and have the patience, then by all means, you can certainly sew the pieces together to make any size project.


4. How do I join two pieces together?

When you have finished 2 pieces of fabric and tied it off the loom you can join them together with a whip stitch. Put the 2 pieces right sides (front sides) together. Using your weaving needle and a piece of matching yarn sew along the seam, from top to bottom, top to bottom, until you’ve sewn along the entire seam. You can also Google ‘whip stitch’ to find videos that show how to do this.


5. What types of yarn do you recommend for weaving?

When winding the warp it’s best to choose yarns without a lot of stretch. Cotton or linen yarns are usually stiff enough. This will prevent the project from warping when taken off of the loom. While doing the actual weaving the materials you choose are limitless. You can use any type of yarn out there or strips of fabric. You can also try unconventional materials such as raffia. 6. I'm allergic to wool. What type of yarns will come with the kit?

All yarns included in the kit are 100% wool. If you are allergic to wool please contact me and I will find you an allergy friendly alternative.


7. What if I don’t understand something in the instructions?
