Woollen coats are such an adorable autumn and winter staple for little ones. With a sewing machine, some cosy fabric, and a great pattern, you can make an heirloom quality coat yourself at home! Designed with little nature explorers in mind, the coat is fully lined, has raglan sleeves, a toggle or buttonhole fastening, and a sweet pixie hood.

First, you will join the outer coat pieces together, next you will make up the lining, then the lining is attached to the outer and turned through. Finally pockets and buttons or toggles are added to the coat front.

This pattern requires some intermediate level techniques and involves sewing through thick layers of fabric, but as with all my patterns the instructions are beginner-friendly with plenty of photos (50+). You can also contact me if you need extra help. Take a look at my product pictures for a sample of the instructions to help you decide; if you can follow along okay, this pattern should be fine for you.


The pattern includes:

• Step-by-step tutorial, including 50+ photos to help make sewing your garment as simple as possible.
• The sizes are colour-coded to make cutting out your pattern simple (although a black and white printer will work too)
• Pattern tiles have been sized to fit both A4 and US Letter size.
• Included is a full-size/A0 option, which you can print at a copy shop and save yourself some cutting and taping.
• A projector file.
