Victorian Velvet Seamstress Purse Box, Antique Sewing Tool Organizer, Blue Tufted Silk

How extraordinary is this little antique seamstress purse from the Victorian era ???

Circa 1870-1890.

This purse / box is made of wood covered with a thin layer of mustard brown velvet.

The state of the velvet is beautiful and still very thick and lush. The color is beautiful and very bright ! There is an ormental plate on both front sides of the purse such as on the sides where the cute handle is attached.

The tiny handle is also made of velvet and presents a superb sailor's knot typical of this era.

The box has 2 panels that opens to disclose a beautiful interior made of a gorgeous tufted blue satin silk in near mint condition. Its is extraordinary how beautifully preserved is the silk.

In the inside of the box, there are two lateral pockets and many antique sewing tools made of cow bones and brass, such as a thimble, a few needles and other embrodering and sewing tools.

The closing of the purse works very well.

She owns 4 metal feets.

This purse is absolutely delightful and would ravish any Victorian / Napoleon III curios collectors.
