Custom and personalised orders

Hats, headwraps, earwarmers, and headbands are generally O/S (one size) and fit heads up to about 22.5". Given the stretch of certain yarns, any sizing concerns are mentioned specifically in the listing IF they apply. I am happy to make hats in custom sizes; please contact me here through Etsy messaging or at chickadeecrochet.ca@gmail.com to discuss. Most other items in my shop, like cloths and stuffies will have sizing and dimensions in the item description.

Most items are machine washable (100% wool hats excepted) but to preserve details, hand washing and laying flat to dry is best practice for hat and headband/bandana care. Care instructions will accompany each item to allow for specific care for individual items and materials.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I offer gift wrapping for delivery in my shop. Items are soft wrapped in high quality kraft tissue paper, and tied with green fabric ribbon, and laid in a kraft box on crinkled kraft paper. I include a small handwritten note card in an envelope and package is wrapped for delivery in quality kraft shipping paper - no taped up shoeboxes here! :) Cost is $5 for gift packaging. Images are available in gift wrapping section for your reference.

Some postal codes in "L" zones of Ontario are eligible for free local delivery or drop off. Please contact me through messaging here if you'd like to inquire.

How do you ship items?

Items are clean and ready to wear, use, or gift. I package as simply as possible and pack some items with a vacuum sealer in order to send in as small a package as possible, which saves money for both maker and buyer. If your item will be packaged this way I will give you instructions with your item for opening. **Note: I only vacuum pack when doing so will not alter integrity of item, for instance, stuffies don't vacuum pack well, so I don't send that way.

Do you have other shipping options besides regular mail?

Many flat items shipped within Canada or the US are sent regular oversize mail. Because they can go in the regular mail bag, they generally deliver in a timely manner and help me keep my costs down - and this savings extends to you as I send these items for free. If you have a pressing need for expedited delivery in or outside of Canada, those options are available at checkout.

How is your pricing determined/set?

A few factors are considered when pricing items, including: 1. material cost 2. time invested 3. skill level/difficulty 4. how many times I had to search couch cushions for my missing hook 5. desired delivery date (for custom orders) Handcrafted items are made by real people, and there is value in that. I encourage you - where and when you can afford to do so - to purchase and support small businesses and craftspeople. I’ll continue to receive my dental care from a licensed dental professional, but my family’s soaps generally come from a soap purveyor I met at a handmade market. ;)
