This picture is one I took of my three girls as we were hiking at Glacier National Park. It was a hike that said 6 miles but it was 10. This is when we were coming back down the mountain trying to hurry before it got dark. It was dusk and beautiful but little did we know that a Grizzly Bear was tracking us. We didn't fully see it until we had 1.2 miles left. Are you kidding me...we are almost done and so tired and our knees where hurting badly. We had no bear spray and it was feeding time for that bear. There was no other way off this trail but through the bear. It was a very sobering moment to not know if we would get out of that park alive. We learned many things on that mountain: Boots, bear spray and water are a life line. No service on our phones brought us to prayer and then within minutes 3 young men came up behind us on the trail. And they had bear spray! We didn't have to use it and those men where as scared as we were. That last mile was our fasted mile by far. On my watch you could see my heart rate spike as we saw the bear and then high as well as we high tailed it off that trail.
