Why do so many items come with Ball chains?

According to our resident gemologist, Connie, the Ball chain is one of the most wearable and durable types of chain available today. It does not kink, can be custom sized with a pair of nippers, and will work with lots of different pendant types. You'll notice pendants hang well, move easily and tend not to tangle with other chains.

Why do you offer so many urns in stainless steel?

A memorial keepsake needs to stand the test of time. Stainless steel has weight to it. It takes engraving well and is non-tarnish and hypo-allergenic. Add to that it resists scratching and is not as delicate as other metals. The color is a clean neutral gray that looks great on a chain or black satin cord, fitting right in with the jewelry you already own and wear. Best, most importantly of all, you want the keepsake, ashes, beach sand, Sacred Earth or dried ceremonial flowers to stay safe and secure. Properly sealed, stainless steel urn jewelry will do that for years to come.

Why do you offer two different urn jewelry fill kits?

Filling your new cremation urn jewelry needs to be done with care. The contents are precious after all. Our Aluminum Funnel Kit is ideal (above industry standards too) for almost all our urns. The Plastic Funnel Kit has a smaller opening and is just the right size for some pieces. We offer both types so that our customers can fill their new piece of cremation urn jewelry easily and neatly. Please check the listing on the urn you are considering for a fill kit recommendation. Once filled, we always suggest you seal your urn jewelry with epoxy or another gel type glue to seal the precious contents inside.

Is engraving included in the price or is it an extra cost?

Any extra engraving we do on an item for you is at an additional charge. Our master engraver handles these requests with care and an understanding of what looks good and will fit on a particular piece of our cremation urn jewelry. Each urn that can be engraved has this option in a dropdown menu at the top of the listing. Each line of engraving can hold 9 letters, numbers, punctuation marks or spaces max. Our engraver set this specification so that the text will fit on the piece and the text will be readable. We also ask that you watch for Etsy messages from our shop. If we have engraving questions we will contact you using Etsy Conversations, as well as at any email address on file with your Etsy account.

How do I protect the keepsakes inside my urn?

After filling your ashes holder jewelry, we always recommend that you seal your urn with epoxy or another gel type glue to protect the precious contents. Filling instructions are in the listings for the Aluminum and Plastic Funnel Kits. Also, the epoxy should be allowed to set for six to 12 hours before you wear your new cremation jewelry.

How much will an urn hold?

It depends on the piece of ashes holder jewelry you choose. Generally, cylinder shapes and those with inner bottles hold the most. Capsules also hold a larger amount. Other shapes, like hearts and tears, have a smaller space for cremation ashes or other keepsakes. The space is not the full size of the shape itself, but a smaller, secure chamber inside. Glass pieces usually have the smallest spaces. You may see the contents through the glass. Our bracelet urns generally have very small spaces to hold cremation ashes or other small keepsakes. We always recommend that you not put the last bit of ashes you have into your cremation jewelry. If a piece is lost, we would hate for you to also lose the irreplaceable keepsakes.

Why is engraving limited to 9 characters and spaces per line?

9 letters, numbers, punctuation marks or spaces is all that will fit. Our engraver also points out that the longer the engraved text, the smaller the type will be in order to fit the whole verse. On especially small pieces, initials or very short verses (Love, Always, Mom, Dad, Nana, Papa, for instance) are the best choice.

Will 925 Sterling Silver turn my neck green?

Absolutely not. The change in skin color when wearing some metals is a reaction of your body chemistry and the metal itself. Pregnancy, perspiration and certain personal care products can all have an impact here. If a piece of jewelry does cause your neck to turn "green" - suspect a chemical reaction, clean the piece well, and try not to wear it 24 hours a day. We regularly test all our genuine 925 sterling silver jewelry to be sure it is what we say it is. We've sold this metal for years without any issue. We don't recommend wearing genuine 925 sterling jewelry in the water or while bathing. Sterling silver of this quality can be delicate, avoid all harsh chemicals, wearing during heavy house/yard work and during exercise.
