Small 1960s table lamp light desk raffia pumpkin shaped shade metal tripod frame vintage mid century French

In this listing we are very pleased to offer a beautifully shaped small table lamp from the 1960s.

Made from a white coloured raffia shade on top of a sober compass legged tripod metal frame.

Through the design most attention goes to the pumpkin shaped shade and it gives a lightness to the lamp that is both literally and figuratively.

The shade lights up wonderfully warm.

The lamp is quite small and perfect for next to a bed or in a small corner of your window sill, etc.

The raffia, which is a natural fibre, is wound around a metal frame that has 10 ribs.

The legs of the lamp are made of metal and covered with black plastic (vinyl) tubes and white vinyl sock to prevent the lamp from scratching on the surface it is put on.

There are no markings on this lamp. The previous owner bought it in France decades ago. Based on the bulb holder, style and origin we date this lamp to the period 1965-1975. This lamp could have been made by any lamp manufacturer at the time.

The lamp takes 1 E14 bulb with screw type fitting. The bulb holder is still the original.

We would advise to use a LED bulb as LED bulbs generate hardly any heat which will help to preserve the raffia in the great condition it is currently in.

It is fitted with a lamp cord of 244 centimeters / 96.06 inches with inline switch at 32 centimeters / 12.59 inches from the base and 2 -pin flat European plug.

Whereas the inline switch is a replacement, the lamp cord and plug are also still the originals.

It is designed for a 220/230 volt network. With adjustments it can be used in countries with a different voltage and or plug.

Very good condition.

This cute and elegant table lamp is in a most wonderful condition.

The raffia wrapping is complete and damage free, has a wonderful ivory white color and even still has a nice gloss.

There is one brown discolouration at about 4 centimeters / 1.57 inches from the upper rim that is visible. It affects a few fibres and covers a space of about 1 centimeter / 0.39 inches. If possible you can of course position this spot to the backside, out of view.

Next to this somewhat prominent spot there are only incidental brown dots that are most pen point size to even smaller. The latter do not stand out in daily use.

It is hard to tell if these brown spots are natural discolouration or as a result of use.

Apart from these spots there is not much to report about this 50 plus years old lamp. There is no rusting in the metal of the frame. The black and white vinyl covering of the legs is in perfect condition with only the white of the socks having normal age discolouration to cream white.

The latter can also be said of the wiring.

The bulb holder is in very good condition too. It shows its age and use but is in undamaged condition and safe to use.
