There are two varieties of alpaca. Between 90 and 93 percent are huacaya and 7 to 10 percent are suri. Therefore, most commercially produced alpaca is huacaya. Alpaca spins up sleek, soft, and shiny. It has very little to no crimp, which often makes finished products very drapey. Silk adds strength and shine to an already strong, shiny fiber
