my face is hot with weeping,
my pillow's damp with sorrow,
but you catch all my tears
in a cloudy glass bottle,
waiting out the years
until the seed is ripe
for pouring out your mercy
and lightening the night.
the wind and waves have stilled, now;
the storm is just a shower.
you've stored up every tear, Lord,
for watering this flower.
