Highlights
For the zapoteca people, every soul comes to this world along with a guardian spirit in the form of an animal. It is called “EL NAHUAL”. Alebrijes are the artistic representation of this sacred belief.
Alebrijes are made of light copal wood, the sacred tree of the zapoteca people, which gives life to these fantastic animals.
San Martin Tilcajete is a zapoteca town that means “place where they paint”. Families have dedicated themselves to making alebrijes for generations.
This magical CHIHUAHUA DOG ALEBRIJE was carved from copal wood and hand painted.

Reviews for this item
Good quality. I'm happy with my purchase
Very fun alebrije to add to our collection.
Gorgeous designs, wonderfully and carefully packaged. These were a gift and my wife was thrilled!!
I just lost my 16 1/2 year old chihuahua and got this in memory of him. It’s beautifully painted and has the same spunky attitude as my boy did. I really love it!
