This is a KNITTING PATTERN for my own design for boot or wellington boot long chunky socks.
Knit in the round using the 'magic loop' circular knitting needle method (or convert to knit on 4 double ended -pointed needles if you prefer).
These are long semi fitted socks knit in chunky wool to keep your toes nice and cosy in your boots with wide turnover cuffs that fit over the tops of your boots.
Instructions are given for womens and mens sizes and are adjustable to fit different foot and leg lengths to get your perfect fit.
The mens style has deep turnover cuffs and ladies style has turnover cuffs finished off with pom-pom ties so the socks can be worn with either your wellington boots or narrower fashion boots.
I have used Robin Chunky in shade 24 but these can be made from any chunky wool which gives the same tension (tension 16sts and 22 rows over stocking stitch on size 6mm circular needle).
Each pair of socks takes 3 x 100 gram balls of wool (140 meters per ball)
MAGIC LOOP - THIS PATTERN ASSUMES SOME KNOWLEDGE OF KNITTING USING THIS TECHNIQUE. IF YOU HAVENT MADE SOCKS THIS WAY BEFORE DO GIVE IT A TRY THERE ARE LOTS OF VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE SHOWING YOU HOW TO DO IT.
I HAVE KNIT MANY SOCKS ON DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES BUT AM NOW A CONVERT TO THE MAGIC LOOP METHOD. I FIND THE NEEDLES EASIER TO HOLD AND YOU GET A MORE EVEN KNIT BETWEEN THE NEEDLES THAN YOU DO WITH DPNS.
