How long untill my purchase is ready to ship?

Your purchase will usually ship with in 1 - 3 days of your order being placed. November -December it may take up to 5 days because of the large increase in order that time of the year.

VAT, Customs Fees, and taxes for International Customers

International customers, Etsy now collects VAT at the point of purchase for orders under the £135 threshold. I do not collect VAT. I am not responsible for any VAT that is not collected by Etsy. You will be responsible for any taxes, customs fees, VAT, or other amounts levied by your home country. Please check with your Customs office and/or Postal Service if you are concerned about possible tariffs. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR UK BUYERS! You should be prepared for the possibility of paying 20% VAT(if it is not collected by Etsy at the point of purchase) plus a Royal Mail fee of at least £8 upon receipt. Any customs and duties charges or VAT charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

Do you accept returns?

Yes! I accept returns as long as the item is UNUSED, returned in the same condition as it was sent, and you contact me about the return within 10 days of receiving the item. You will receive a refund of the purchase price only, shipping will not be refunded. You pay the return shipping. If your order contained "free shipping" the actual shipping costs will be deducted from your refund.

I self-insure my packages. This means each item has an extra $0.25 included in the shipping price to cover insurance. If your package is lost or damaged by the postal service please contact me right away. If your package is lost I require a waiting period of 2 weeks after the estimated arrival date for domestic packages, and 3 weeks after the estimated arrival date for international packages before refunds will be given. This waiting period is standard in the insurance industry and necessary to be sure that the package is not simply delayed. Do not wait this long before contacting me though, as there are things I can do during the waiting period to look for your package! Lost packages will be refunded in full

Why am I being charged a sales tax?

I am required by law to collect sales taxes for all purchases made in the state of Nevada. In Nevada each county charges a different tax rate. The way etsy sets up sales tax collections makes it difficult to get the correct rate charged for each individual county. To make things simple I will be charging you the highest tax rate in the state, 8.15%, after the transaction(or each quarter) I will calculate the correct percentage for your county and refund you the difference, if there is one.

Your bowtie will be hand-made by me… Hi, I’m Michelle!

Each bowtie is cut from a different place in the fabric, so design placement will vary slightly.
On average each bowtie measures about 5 inches by 2 inches when tied.
If you would like your bowtie longer, shorter, wider, skinnier, I am happy to accommodate! Just send me a message before you order.

SELF TIE OR PRE-TIED
The self-tied option is the option you see in the photos. This option can be tied, untied, and retied at your leisure!

The pretied option is a self-tie bowtie that I tie for you, stitch the knot securely, and add a hook to the neck strap. This option will look just like the self-tied bowtie when you put it on. No one will know you didn’t tie it yourself! If you ever want to learn to tie your own bowtie, you can clip the two stitches on the back of the knot and it will be a self-tie bowtie. This is a great option if you are gifting the bowtie and you don’t know if the person prefers self or pre-tied bowties.

WHICH SIZE TO CHOOSE
The sizing is based on dress shirt sizes. For example: if you wear a 15-inch neck dress shirt, you will want a 15-inch bowtie so, order the 12-17 inch bowtie.
Measuring your bare neck will not result in accurate sizing as bowties are made to fit over a dress shirt collar, not over a bare neck (unless you are wearing it on a bare neck, then by all means measure that neck!)

Buying this as a surprise and don’t know the neck size of your person? As a generalization "youth" fits pre-teens and very small adults, "small adult" fits teens, and adults who wear small-large T-shirts, and "adult large" fits those who wear plus-size T-shirts and muscular-necked individuals. (Those are just generalizations, please take some time to stare at your giftee's neck and make an educated guess!) If you choose a size that does not fit, contact me right away, I’m happy to return/replace it with a different size.

SHIPPING
Your bowtie will be packaged in a plastic gusset bag and shipped in a small sturdy box (pretied) or a manilla envelop (self-tie). The bowtie strap may have creases when it arrives. If it does, you can iron the bowtie on low heat.
Priority and Express shipping is available at checkout. Keep in mind the time it takes me to create the bowtie does not change, only the shipping time is reduced with these options.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-Self-tie: Dry cleaning is best. If you machine wash the bowtie use a delicate, low heat, or cold water cycle. Dry on low heat. It will need to be ironed after washing. Repeated machine washing will fade the fabric.
-Pre-tied: It is not recommended that you ever machine wash a pretied bowtie. Dry clean or hand wash only.
