I always check out new stone purveyors when they come to the Tucson shows. This year there was a fella from India who had Sleeping Beauty, and though I'd already bought what I needed, I spoke with him for a while and was amazed to find that the turquoise was hand-cut (imagine thousands of 3mm stones cut by hand) and had not been treated or stabilized! He showed me photos of the equipment...hand-turned wheels (or were they foot-turned?) made of the same stone material we have on our equipment here in America, but much larger. The whole thing was admirable, so I couldn't resist buying a few.
These stones are not spot on for size, but when I see something far off, I remove it so you should be pleased with what you get after this advanced warning.As you see, the colors are not sorted and I will just pour the number of stones you order...so they may not match, but you should get some nice pairs and a good variety. Also, if you look at the 3rd photo, You will see that they are not the same height. That's part and parcel of the purchase, too. You can see on the bottom of the stone where the stone was attached to the dop stick so there is a little discoloration there, but it doesn't flow through to the whole stone, so not to worry.
Last, but not least, these stones were less per carat than many of the treated stones I buy, so it's a mixed bag. I like it and am happy to offer them this round to those of you who are happy to have them offered!
