An absolutely wonderful 1940s vintage rayon crepe dress with the best structural interest!

Looped Draping to the back neck/bodice and torso area; the waistline has a self fabric belt with metal snaps hidden by a little back peplum/fabric flaps that really elevate this simple black dress! And check out the little bow ties on the shoulders! So charming!

Side metal zip closure; no labels

Measurements taken flat (double for fit):

Bust 17.5”
Shoulder to waist seam under belt 14.5”
Waist tight 13” with belt unsnapped; best for 12.5” and below
When belted, the waist is a tight 12.5”; the snaps on the belt can be shifted max 3/4” to give more room
Hips open
Length 40.5”

Condition:

Very good vintage minus

I mended a small tear to the back left side of the dress as shown

There are some areas to the skirt that the black color has mildly faded; it does not have that purple hue that is typical of color fade, rather just less saturation; this is very hard to notice but mentioning for full disclosure; one small light whitish spot to lower left skirt (also hard to notice)

The zipper is in full working condition but is not the type that closes “quickly” or “smoothly” as the track is on the fabric (how it’s meant to be)- it’s such an interesting zipper; it has no markings but I’ve not seen one like it!

Dress is hand washed and steamed; a slight musty smell remains that should fade more with further washes
