COULD PLAYING WITH A WOODEN TOY HYENA BE INTERESTING?

If your children love folktales, and you would like to introduce them to other cultures, you might wish to read with them tales and myths of people who live alongside hyenas. These stories, however, do not usually represent hyena personality and behavior faithfully. Still, they might be fascinating and offer scenarios for imaginative play.

Exploring the facts of nature could be just as interesting. The toy we are offering represents the spotted hyena - a skillful hunter, unlike the striped hyena, which is mainly a scavenger. The spotted hyena attacks middle-sized to big animals - antelopes, wildebeests, even young elephants and giraffes. It might also eat birds, lizards, snakes and insects. They even attack livestock and have caused the death of people, mainly women, children and weak men. During the hot season, when some people sleep outside, hyenas might easily attack them and steal sleeping children. You might wish to check our African collections for wild animals, livestock and people who share the same habitat.

If your children are interested in comparing and classifying animals, they might be really surprised to find out that hyenas are classified as cat-like carnivores, despite the fact that they might resemble dogs in some ways. Suricates / meerkats are among their unexpected relatives.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Do not soak in water. Wash each toy separately with soapy water with some vinegar. Rinse as quickly as possible. Immediately dry with a towel. Let air dry.
For disinfection you can use rubbing alcohol. We recommend spiritus aethylicus for medical purposes.
Do not put on or near heaters. Do not keep under direct sunshine for too long. Moisture and heat can cause warping and cracking in wood, so wooden products should not be exposed to these for too long.
When toys feel too dry, they need to be oiled and / or waxed. We recommend linseed oil and beeswax waxes. Other oils and waxes could be used too: mineral oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. Vegans can use carnauba wax instead of beeswax.

WRONG ADDRESS. If you notice you have given us a wrong address, contact us as soon as possible to provide us with the correct one. If the product ships to a wrong/nonexistent address, the package will most likely eventually be returned to us, and in certain cases we might have to pay for the return postage. If you want us to send you the package again to another address, you need to pay shipping charges again OR place a new order if you do not want to wait for the original package to be returned to us.

If you fail to receive the product, we will refund the price of the product once we receive it back, but we will not refund the shipping costs.
