What fabrics do I need to buy for my pattern & how much yardage will I need?

Our sewing patterns come with fabric recommendations, yardage & a supply list located in the 'Read Me' document. Fabric estimates are provided for 58" wide fabrics. The yardage you will need will vary depending on the fabric width. Most patterns now include a conversion chart for estimating a variety of fabric widths. Most of our listings have images that include yardage estimates along with tech sketches and a size chart. Check the listing descriptions for fabric recommendations.

I'm having trouble with printing, finding a file, assembling the pattern or getting a file to open. Can you help me?

A Starting Guide is included with our patterns. Are these patterns good for beginner crafters?

We offer a range of patterns from easy to advanced so we recommend you have some sewing experience. Costumes can be more challenging to make than other types of items. A sewing skills list & difficulty level is located in the listing images. Please review these skills before buying to judge the project difficulty in relation to your own experience. Each pattern comes with illustrated instructions for assembly. Basic understanding of sewing & sewing pattern terminology is needed to use them. Pattern instructions only cover assembly steps for a specific garment. Assembly instructions are not a substitute for sewing lessons or training, so if you are brand new to sewing, we recommend having an experienced friend or family member help you.

Do I need special software to print the patterns from your store?

Yes! Our patterns use vectors so you will need a PDF reader. We recommend Acrobat Reader. This program is an industry standard and 100% FREE. It is available in various forms from desktop, mobile apps, to plugins and web versions. Using Acrobat will help you avoid common printing issues and give more printing options than programs without native PDF support like Microsoft Word or web browsers like Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc. Many programs don't have full PDF support and can cause major issues! How do I un-zip my downloaded file?

Windows users: Right-click to select "Extract All" For Mac users: Double-click the .ZIP file On Windows, make sure to fully unzip the contents of the download before opening them. On Windows, you can view files in a zipped folder. Do not try to open or print these files while they are inside the .ZIP folder. Doing so can cause errors. If you believe you are missing files, please unzip your download again and select 'Extract All' and extract to a new folder. Otherwise, you may not have unzipped all the files contained in the folder. To find a specific file, use the 'Details' view mode in your file browser window to view the files as a list, and expand out the name column to view long file names.

I want to use the Large Format Printer Files included with my pattern. Where do I get those made?

These files can be printed anywhere that offers blueprints and plotter printing. In the US, these are the big 36"x 48" sized sheets used for blueprints. These PDFs can be printed at any local copy shop or online printer that offers blueprints or plotter printing. You'll want to select A0 (international standard) or Arch E (US Standard) sized paper. Request to print the documents at 100% scale. These PDFs are 32" high x 46" wide per page so they fit on both A0 and Arch E papers. PLEASE NOTE: Some of our oldest releases DO NOT INCLUDE large-format print files. Please check the item description before ordering.

Help! I used the recommended print settings but the scale on my test print is off -OR- Curved lines look okay on screen but print out as straight lines!

Scale issues: Printer DRIVERS cause 99% of scale issues, not the print settings in Adobe Acrobat. Go to your Start menu ➜ Settings ➜ Search for 'Printers & Scanners' ➜ Locate your printer ➜ Select 'Printer properties' ➜ look for Paper Handling or Scale Settings ➜ Change the settings to '100% Scale' or 'No Scale'. This will prevent a printer from forcing the use of a specific paper size when printing. Warped lines: Connection issues between a device and a printer can cause this. Go into the printer settings in Acrobat ➜ Select Advanced ➜ Check the 'Print as Image' option. This will send the document to the printer as JPGs instead of vector lines.
