We put up this pergola over a year ago and several people in our hometown stopped to take photos, so we thought it would be helpful to provide instructions to other homeowners/builders. We took on this task ourselves in 2020 and these instructions would have saved us some time. Variations of this design are many and you can take these plans and change the look of your pergola.

Kevin, the author/builder has a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university and is aware of the golden ratio and uses in Architecture. Pinterest obsessed co-author and wife Michelle, has artistic design experience in a separate industry. We admire all kinds of architecture and have the mathematics/engineering background for safe sizing of beams, supports, fasteners/anchors and other information needed to propose a design that will last decades.

TOOLS NEEDED: Use of power tool experience will help.

TOOLS: The plan is written for complete beginners! The cuts are all straightforward, and the tools are fairly standard ones that you likely either have or can easily borrow or buy. Here's the tool list from the plan:

» Pencil
» Skill saw
» Table saw
» Chop saw
» Screw gun, cordless is nice
» Hand saw, corded is good for needed power
» Tape measure – 25’ or 30’
» Level, 4’
» Handy but not needed– speed square, framing square, 6’ level
