The Monstera Adansonii, aka the "Swiss Cheese" plant, gets its nickname from the large holes. These holes allows light to pass to the lower leaves of the plant in its natural low light environment beneath the jungle canopy, as well as allowing wind to easily pass through the leaves. This is an easy to care for plant. The Monstera Adansonii appreciates bright, indirect light and will respond well to high humidity.

This plant can be brought outdoors when temperatures are above 68 degrees, however, it must be keep out of direct sun as its leaves will burn. However, during the winter months filtered direct morning sun is fine. If your plant stops producing splits in the leaves and stems become leggy, this means it is not getting enough light. If other conditions are acceptable, they can survive like this, however, you will want to move your plant to a brighter location if you want to see it produce more of those gorgeous split-leaves.

Water once the top two inches of soil is dry. This plant prefers a standard well draining potting soil that has been amended with peat.

Monstera Adansonii prefers a warm, room-temperature setting between 68 and 86 degrees F. Medium to high humidity is ideal, however it is fairly tolerant to a wide range of conditions once acclimated. Do not let your Monsera drop below 50 degrees F as it will not do well. Frost will kill this tropical plant so make sure they are tucked in during winter months.
