Build Your Own Gaming Table with Recessed Vault and Cover (Digital Guide and Plans)

This incredibly detailed, 108-page, full-color digital guide walks you step-by-step through building your very own hobby table with a recessed vault and vault cover! Recessed vaults are great for board gaming, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, building Legos, crafting, scrapbooking, drawing, painting miniatures… just about anything!

We absolutely love this table! These were our design objectives:

➤ COOL STYLE. We wanted a ruggedly handsome hobby table – something that would look comfortable hanging out in a Viking dining hall or the captain’s quarters of an old pirate ship.

➤ EASY TO BUILD. No super fancy woodworking techniques or ridiculously expensive tools required. Our goal was to provide a forgiving, beginner-friendly approach that anyone with a circular saw and power drill could follow. We embraced the rustic philosophy: dings, dents, and imperfections only add to a table’s charm and character!

➤ COST EFFECTIVE. All required materials can be found online or at common home improvement stores like Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware. Using construction-grade lumber helped keep the cost down while contributing to the desired look and feel!

➤ STURDY. A hobby table needs to be hefty and solid. Accidentally bumping it with your knee won't send things flying!

➤ REMOVABLE LEGS. Furniture isn’t all that useful if you can’t transport it through a standard doorway.

➤ ACCESSIBLE VAULT SURFACE. Our design makes it easy to change out or replace the surface material as needed.

➤ VAULT COVER. Sometimes you just want a flat tabletop. The vault cover lets you leave an in-progress game or craft project set up inside the vault while you eat lunch or play a different game on top!

The "default table" shown in the photos is an average sized, counter height gaming table that should work well for most people’s needs. The vault surface is a 3mm thick nylon-covered neoprene sheet perfect for playing cards and board gaming. We even provide suggestions for inexpensive (yet comfortable) seating, rustic cupholders, and a remote-controlled indirect lighting solution!

The dimensions of the default table are as follows:
▻ Table Length x Table Width = 62 inches x 44 inches
▻ Table Height = 37 inches
▻ Vault Length x Vault Width = 55 inches x 37 inches
▻ Vault Depth = 2.5 inches
▻ Usable Vault Surface Area = roughly 4.5 feet x 3 feet
