Here are some benefits of using this mount with a Ring Alarm Contact Sensor:

     • The mount can be attached to any type of garage door.

     • This mount will trigger the sensor after the garage door tilts beyond 20 degrees.

     • Ring Alarm Contact Sensors are very reliable and don't trigger false positives. I previously was using Ecolink tilt sensors and they sometimes reported incorrect statuses for my garage doors.

     • While 3rd party garage door sensors are available, some aren't accessible directly from within the Ring app (an additional app needs to be installed), require you to tap through many menus to find the sensor status, and/or display the status as "clear/faulted" instead of "closed/open". Ring Alarm Contact Sensors display a "closed/open" status in the Ring app and the status is easy to access.

     • 3rd party garage door sensors are not not covered by Ring's professional monitoring and will not trigger your Ring Alarm (if configured to do so).

     • This is a small two-piece mount with no moveable parts. That makes it impossible for someone to tape it closed (for example) to prevent the Ring sensor from reporting garage door movement.

     • Since the mount and Ring Alarm Contact Sensor are screwed to the garage door, removing the screws would require opening the lid of the Ring sensor. Removing the lid would cause the Ring app to display a "Tampered" notification.
