1940s Black Velvet Maxi Dress Ivory Collar Formal Gown Evening Wear Vintage Style 1950s Fashion Cocktail Attire Special Occasion Party

Elegant black velvet maxi from the late 1940s/early 1950s with wide ivory satin collar and lapel as well as turn up ivory satin cuffs. Wrists have buttons and loops. The bodice is fitted and the skirt is gathered at the waist seam for beautiful fullness/movement. Matching black velvet belt with covered buckle. Side seam pockets, center back zipper, wide crochet belt loops. Unlined but the bodice is faced.

Condition is good. Signs of general wear and age. There is some crushing/matting to the velvet behind the belt, around the elbows and to the back, probably from sitting. Some staining and wear to the collar, especially at back left, as well as discoloration to inside collar, see pics. Dry cleaned and ready to wear.
