This is a beautiful, intricately hand painted white sleeveless top. the front of the top has an intricate design throughout the front of the top. There are flowers, leaves and peacocks and a fish inside a traditional ambi design on the front and the back of the top.

Our artisan Rita painstakingly uses the traditional hand painted style called Madhubani from central India and it took her a few days to paint this lovely top. The top is painted using a traditional Madhubani/Mithila technique from the Bihar state in India by our artisan, Rita who's family has been living in the Madhubani region within India.

Madhubani paintings were traditionally made using fingers and twigs as well as matchsticks and pen nibs in the modern day. Usually, primary colours and other bright colours are used to make these paintings. It is common to use natural dyes in these paintings, for example turmeric is used to make yellow paint, indigo is used to make the colour blue, charcoal and soot for the colour black. Modern day paints are combined with an additional medium that makes the paint stay on the fabric.

This is a sleeveless top with a shorter torso, it is likely a size M for many brands. It measures about 55 cm (21.65 inches) across the chest, about 66 cm (25.98 inches) along the base of the top and it is about 64 cm (25.2 inches) in height. There are small wood-like buttons on both sides of the top as shown in the 5th picture but only the bottom 3 buttons open on both sides of the shirt, the rest are just for show. Please ask before buying if you have questions about sizes.
