What is Tencel made of?
Tencel is made from recycled wood fibers. The Tencel fabric is produced by the Austrian company Lenzing and belongs to the Lyocell family of fabrics.
Is it sustainable?
Tencel is biodegradable, meaning you could throw your pants in the compost. However, I'd prefer you wear them during the postpartum period and during your recovery. Perhaps you plan to have more children, and then the pants will accompany you through your next pregnancy(s). And if not, give them away or sell them. I'm sure another expectant mother will be very happy with them.
Is Tencel environmentally friendly?
The wood used in production comes predominantly from sustainable and legally managed forests, and is certified with the FSC and PEFC wood seal.
What special properties does this material promise, especially with regard to yoga?
Tencel is breathable and regulates perspiration better than cotton, for example. And if you do get sweaty, they won't be visible for long. You can move freely in these pants, and they adapt to your skin—perhaps even like a second skin.
