This listing includes the getas, white and yellow tabi socks. SANDAL SIZE and CONDITION: approximately: getas: 8 1/2" long x 3" at it's widest point or about 22.3 cm long . I'm a size 5 and they fit, but are a bit narrow for me now. As you can see from the photos of the bottom of them, I rarely used them. Like new or lightly used. Fun is here with these cute geisha get up geta shoes. Let your daughter clunk around on these in carpeted areas or outside, I bet she'll have a blast!
Comes with two pairs of tabi socks, which I just washed and can not get those stains out! Hopefully you can or won't care. Great for splashing around in rain puddles and gardening in mud, but not for too long! The lacquer needs to be wiped clean and stay dry or it starts to peel and crack!
The geta and tabis would be fun for anyone with either the ninja and/or geisha spirit.
Hanamatsuri Festival is on Buddha's birthday, usually the celebrated the first weekend in around April 8. As a child I used to dance at these festivals, but never wore these getas because I got these in high school as a gift. They came with all the traditional kimono and accessories for summer wear.
Hinimatsturi or Girl's Day is celebrated March 3 and I don't remember having and elaborate 7 step platform or the dolls, but I did receive elaborate gifts on that day and my grandparents would fly the traditional carp sock kites from a pole in front of their yard. I remember receiving wooden lacquered, bento boxes, child sized tea ceremony dishes, cups and tray, glass boxed geisha dolls and my most favorite was a huge three tiered lacquered musical jewelry box with a pop up geisha! It has so many velvet lined drawers and compartments, I was in heaven!
OBON Festival: is the Japanese version of Day of the Dead when we honor the spirit of our ancestors. As a child, I remember starting in May usually, you go to a Buddhist temple and learn traditional dances and in June during the weekend festival you join in the circle and dance with the live taiko drummers! My favorite dance was the Coal Miner's Daughter.

Side Kick Story: These are from a trip to Japan in the late 70's. They were a gift from relatives and I remember only wearing them once for pictures. I think the tabi's are from my childhood and are quite stained and used, but still useable. Great for kids who don't care, but love clothes from other countries. Also good for wearing and joining in at Obon's and other Japanese festivals.
