The DXF file that will open in Silhouette Studio Basic Edition does not keep the layers or colors as they appear in the SVG file. To print out the file in multiple layers on different colored vinyl, open the DXF file in Silhouette Studio Basic Edition, select all the objects that you want to print on a single layer and make them all one color. Repeat this for each layer/color vinyl that you want to print. Then open the “Send” tab, select the “Fill” tab and that will allow you to select which colors you want to print.

To do this easier, Silhouette Designer Edition will allow you to open the SVG file and will keep the layers to be able to print them from the layers menu.
