Highlights

  • Materials: Walnut

A solid walnut studio rack with dovetail joinery, made for the gear you care about most. Part of our Heritage Series: built by hand in Portland, Oregon and shipped fully assembled.

THE WOOD
Solid, sustainably sourced walnut, with a rich dark color and grain that makes every rack one of a kind. It's a centerpiece in a studio, not just a place to put gear.

WHY IT LASTS
Every corner is joined with interlocking dovetails and a natural glue, with no screws anywhere. The dovetail is one of the oldest and strongest joints in woodworking, and it's the mark of careful, skilled craft. Finished with a zero-VOC finish, so there's no chemical smell in your studio.

DETAILS
• Fits standard 19 inch rack gear
• Choose your size: 2U, 3U, 4U, 5U, 6U, or 8U
• Choose your depth: 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, or 20 inches
• Depth is measured outside, front to back; rails sit 1/4" behind the front edge
• Choose your base: low-profile rubber feet, steel hairpin legs in 6, 12, or 16 inch heights, or wheels
• Made to order, ships in 3 to 4 weeks

CHOOSING A SIZE
One rack unit (1U) is 1.75 inches of rack space. Add up the U height of every piece you want to mount, then leave a space or two free if you expect to add gear later.

CHOOSING A DEPTH
Depth is the outside measurement of the rack, front to back. The rack rails sit 1/4 inch behind the front edge, so a 12 inch rack gives you 11 3/4 inches from the rails to the back edge. Measure your deepest piece of gear from the back of its front panel to the back of its chassis, then add room for cables. If you're between sizes, go deeper.

CHOOSING A BASE
Rubber feet keep the rack low for a desktop or a shelf. Hairpin legs lift it to a comfortable reach from a chair or the floor, and the leg height you pick is added to the height of the rack. Wheels let you roll your gear wherever the session is.
