Cancan Dress - made of paper

This gorgeous red cancan dress is made entirely of paper. The ephemeral one-of-a-kind aspect of this piece makes it very precious and desirable to any fan of paper and fashion.

The dress is primarily a piece of art meant for display but it is constructed so that it can be worn as a costume (size x-small/small). The paper is surprisingly sturdy and flexible so it can be worn more than once. Note: As part of its natural composition, the paper is susceptible to moisture and the red paper will "bleed" when wet.

The red paper is a heavy grade crepe paper; the whites are unryu and lens paper; and the blacks are crepe and mulberry.

This dress was created especially for display at the Posters of Paris: Toulouse-Lautrec and His Contemporaries, June 1–September 9, 2012, exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum store.
