COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Poland

HISTORY: In the early 19th-century babka was created in the Jewish community in Poland with fruit and cinnamon fillings. Because chocolate was not readily available at that time, it was most likely introduced around the mid-20th century in America. The babka gained its popularity outside of the Polish community around the 1950s in Israel and in the US. The name babka in Slavic means grandmother and it is believed because grandmothers made the best baked goods. This chocolate babka for sure represents one of the best sweet bread!
