Because these are designed to only be mounted into one wall stud, Sisal Poles are a great option if you have limited horizontal space or inconsistent wall stud spacing. We suggest mounting these near the floor so your cat has easy access to scratch the pole easily from a seated or standing position or use as a quick route up the wall.

New Cork Pads!

You can also try our Cork Traction Pads that are designed specifically for this shelf. These resilient shelf pads are made from cork fabric with an adhesive backing. The fabric is made with natural cork bonded with a blend of cotton and polyester. This highly durable blend prevents the cork from chipping away like normal cork tends to do on its own. It allows cats to slightly claw into the material for extra grip while being extremely resistant to punctures. Cork fabric is commonly used to make things like handbags, wallets, and shoes.

We’ve tested the material on a ledge on top of a stairway at home to see the results firsthand and after 4 months, there’s still been no sign of wear and tear!

Why Cork?

In addition to providing durable feline traction, cork fabric is a great material to use from an environmental standpoint. Cork forestry practices are some of the most sustainable forest practices on the planet. Cork’s renewable, biodegradable and can be recycled without producing any toxic residues.

Cork trees are harvested rather than cut down – Cork oak trees are hand-harvested every 9 years. The trees have a lifespan of around 300 years. The harvesting process does not harm the tree, making it completely sustainable.

Climate Change & Cork – When a cork tree is harvested, it absorbs CO2, which is a greenhouse gas that causes climate change. After harvest, it will absorb 3-5 times more CO2 than unharvested trees. 34% of all cork oak trees are located in Portugal, which helps offset 10 million tons of carbon every year.

Washing instructions – To clean your Cork Pads, we suggest using a cloth dampened with water or making a solution with water and a small amount of soap.

Our latest furniture collection has been meticulously engineered to be stronger and more versatile than ever! Instead of using pine for our wooden components, we now use bamboo. Bamboo is a highly sustainable material that is stronger than pine and allows for a sleek, modern design. Another improvement to the design includes a third mounting point that has been added to our Mounting Planks. Replacement Sisal Segments
Our Scratching Poles provide a healthy outlet for cats to use their claws. Your cats can scratch and stretch in a constructive setting, keeping your furniture safe!

Bear in mind that although we have the sisal rope glued in place, their purpose is to be scratched which will cause them to show wear and tear over time. These sisal pole sections can be easily replaced by simply removing two furniture bolts, without taking other furniture down from your cat’s wall. If you have a cat who favors scratching, then your segments will be worn through quicker, but this all depends on the activity level of your cat.

Our company began in 2013, when we started building unique furniture concepts for our cats. We have always put a big focus on our testing process, which has been a very large part of our success. After we construct our prototypes, we install them in our home for a six-month period to see how our cats use the furniture, and look for opportunities to improve the design prior to production.

For the first six years, we did all the design, woodwork, staining, and assembly ourselves, but as demand grew we had to expand into working with production partners to keep up with orders. Today, we design, prototype and test all concepts at our facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Once the designs are finalized, we work with manufacturing partners located in Michigan, India, and China. The raw parts are shipped to our shop in Grand Rapids and our team assembles the furniture and ships it out worldwide.
