A large handmade and hand painted ceremonial drum. 12" in diameter and 2" deep. Made with stained maple wood frame and split rawhide. A natural wood with leather Drum Stick is included. The drum has been professionally tuned to give the most harmonious sound that a ceremonial drum can have. The rawhide has been hand painted with a crescent moon and a raven.
RAVEN SPIRIT SYMBOLISM
The raven is a common iconic figure in Norse mythology. The highest god Odin had two ravens named Huginn and Muninn ("thought" and "memory" respectively) who flew around the world bringing back tidings to their master.
In the Bible, Genesis tells us that after the flood waters receded, the raven was the first bird Noah sent out from the ark to find land. Also, in the Hebrew Talmud, ravens are credited with teaching mankind how to deal with death; when Cain slew Abel, a raven showed Adam and Eve how to bury the body, because they had never done so before.
Ravens have strength and power, imparting or amplifying those qualities in those who honor them by for example wearing a pendant with a raven.
