What is Kalamkari:
Kalamkari is a traditional Indian art form of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textiles that originated in Andhra Pradesh, meaning "pen-work". The art form uses natural or vegetable dyes to create intricate designs, often depicting mythological stories and motifs from nature. There are two main styles: the hand-painted Srikalahasti style, done with a pen made from a bamboo stick and cotton, and the Machilipatnam style, which uses hand-carved wooden blocks for printing.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF IT IS REAL SILK?
Simply touch your silk and get a good feel for the smoothness of it. Real silk is completely smooth to the touch, with a soft and almost waxy feeling. Further to that, if you scrunch it up a bit in your hand, you should hear a crunching noise – that sound should tell you that it's real.
HOW CAN YOU FIND IF IT IS 100% PURE?
Ignite the thread or fiber with a lighter flame or candle. Genuine silk only burns while the source of the flame is touching it, and will stop burning as soon as the flame source is removed. Burning silk fiber will also smell like burnt hair, and the ash residue should be crispy and loose.
WHAT IS SILK MARK CERTIFICATION?
Silk Mark Certificate is the acknowledgement of Government of India as a proof of authentication of real 100% silk.
