The bones are an ancient percussion instrument which I have been playing and making since 1983. William Sydney Mount painted this portrait of "Mr. Bones" in a Negro Vaudeville troupe in 1856, and my parents-in-law saw it hanging in the Boston Museum of Art. They sent me a postcard of it, which I used to reproduce the painting in embroidery, that I now wear on the back of my jacket.
The prints capture the texture of the thread beautifully, so that it is difficult to tell that it is not the original.
Canvas prints come stretched on 3/4" thick bars with a hanger on the back, so that it is ready to hang on your wall.

Quality of canvas print is very good. Piece was packed with padding and arrived in perfect condition. My only disappointment is that it's not obvious by looking at the print that it is a copy of the embroidered piece. The details are much flatter than were pictured in the listing, which I now realize were photos of the embroidered piece and not the print you will receive. Still, it's Joni, so I still love it on my wall. Thank you!
