How are items graded in regards to condition?

Grading occurs on 6 levels: Phenomenal: Item is in pristine condition with no discoloration, misfolds, folds, tears, holes or damage. I've only given this grading out twice so look out for it. Excellent: Item has no tears, holes or stains over the pictures or text. There will be edge ruffling and folding however. Good: Items may have small holes or seam splitting throughout with possible edge ruffling. The holds and seam splits must not take away from the overall paper or cover important information or imagery. Average: Item has holes and seam splitting that may take away from the imagery or information. Poor: Item has serious damage throughout the paper that takes away from the items historical or artistic nature. Destitute: :(

What's "Your Best of The Rest Section About?"

So I have a lot of cool, original, authenticated newspapers that I don't have time to do complete writeups on. So my "Best of the Rest" section is my compromise, you get a brief condition report and 3 pictures but that section is much cheaper than how I would regularly price it. Obviously my 150% Guarantee still applies and if you don't like it you can just send it back for a full refund.

Alrighty, so for the past year I’ve been working on learning the printing processes of newspapers from 1700-1890. At this stage I’m finally comfortable vetting and selling pre-20th century newspapers. How I vet them: 1. Paper content, layout, and quality (linen w/ twine). 2. Papers must come from museums or historical society. 3. Must not be found in any known reproduction lists or archives. If something does slip past all this I will of course observe my 150% guarantee, and probably stop selling pre 20th century for awhile. No real buyer beware or anything, just know I’m trying.
