This is a Digital Pattern to create your own Regency Stays. These stays are inspired by 18th century short stays and have some slight changes to the shaping and fit for a comfortable and modern feel. The stays feature 4 deep and slightly rounded bust gores, with lacing in the back. This pattern is relatively easy to put together with only 3 pattern pieces. The most challenging part is inserting the gores.

This is a Digital PDF pattern for an 18th century / Regency Short Stays. The pattern is 9 pages and can be assembled into the sewing pattern.

XS - 72 cm waist / 75 cm under bust / 82-87 cm bust
S - 75 cm waist / 79 cm under bust / 86-91 cm bust
M - 79 cm waist / 82 cm under bust / 91-96 cm bust
L - 82 cm waist / 86 cm under bust / 95-100 cm bust
XL - 85 cm waist / 90 cm under bust / 100-105 cm bust
XXL - 89 cm waist / 93 cm under bust / 104-110 cm bust

*Please note this is the approximate measurements of the body size that would fit in the stays with a 4-5 cm lacing gap. Bust is able to be adjusted and can fit smaller or larger bust sizes.

XS - 67 cm waist / 70 cm under bust / 77-82 cm bust
S - 70 cm waist / 74 cm under bust / 81-86 cm bust
M - 74 cm waist / 77 cm under bust / 86-91 cm bust
L - 77 cm waist / 81 cm under bust / 90-95 cm bust
XL - 80 cm waist / 85 cm under bust / 95-100 cm bust
XXL - 84 cm waist / 88 cm under bust / 99-105 cm bust

*Please note that these are not the measurements of the body suited for these stays, but measurements of the finished garment. When choosing a size please select a size that is 4-5cm smaller than your under bust measurement. This will account for the lacing gap. The bust measurements can also be easily changed to fit a smaller or larger bust size. When selecting a size I recommend choosing based of your under bust measurement.

Recommended Materials

1. 65 cm - 1 meter / 1 yard fashion fabric for outer later, if making matching bias binding extra fabric maybe needed
3. 65 cm - 1 meter / 1 yard of coutil fabric for strength layer
4. 65 cm - 1 meter / 1 yard of fabric for lining layer, this layer is optional
5. 10 or 11 pre cut steel bones 6mm wide. You will want 2 or 3 bones 24cm long for the center front. 4 bones, 2 for each side of the stays, that are 22 cm long. 4 bones, one for either side of the back lacing, that are 20 cm long.
6. 4 meters of bias tape or binding
7. Ribbon or cord to lace up the back and tie straps
8. Eyelets
