---THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO---
The Western Auto building is one of the most iconic in Kansas City because of the multi-story, light up sign that crowns the top of it. Impossible to miss when driving into the city at night it's one of the first things you see and serves as the de facto 'Welcome' sign letting you know you've arrived in KC. It was originally built in 1914 by Coca-Cola, later served as the HQ for the Western Auto Supply Company, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and is now host to tenants in its condos. I took this photo at night with my zoom lens from the WWI Memorial overlooking the city.
