This block print note card set, Turtle- Hawaiian Honu, includes six cards and six envelopes in a clear re-sealable plastic pouch. The cards are printed on heavy brown card stock, blank inside, and each folded card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. These cards are created from original linoleum block prints. Information about the turtle is printed on the back.

The honu is the name for the Pacific Green Sea Turtle found in Hawai‘i. Honu are ‘aumakua, or ancestral guardians to many Native Hawaiian families. They are a federally protected species and feeding or touching the honu is dangerous to them and against the law. An important cultural symbol in Hawai‘i, the ancient honu appears in Hawaiian legends and folklore. Adult honu grow to 45” and can weigh up to 400 pounds. Honu can be found in many Hawaiian waters, eating limu, seaweed, off rocks in tide pools and in the shallow waters along the shore.
