A quilt is made up of three layers: the top, the batting, and the backing. For my patchwork and modern quilts, I create the top by piecing together a variety of premium cotton fabrics. Next, I quilt the pieced top to the batting and backing fabric with a modern straight-line stitch pattern. I finish all my quilts with a durable handmade double-fold binding. Before shipping my quilts to their new homes, I prewash them (in organic laundry detergent) to give them the classic puckered texture of a beloved family heirloom.

It's easy to care for your quilt! Simply machine wash cold on the gentle cycle and tumble dry low (or air dry).

Potcakes are the loyal, lovable stray dogs that live in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Their name comes from the leftover pea and rice stew (often caked to the bottom of the pot) that local residents feed them. This shop is named after my family's Bahamian potcake, Abby, who is truly one of a kind.
