Can I have my seed mix modified?

If you would like to have your seed mix modified, please send us a message. While we cannot formulate a completely new mix for you (with the exception of if you own a Syrian with diabetes) we may be able to substitute or omit certain ingredients. Please message us before you order if you would like to have your seed mix modified!

How long do your products last for?

Please check the description of each product to see how long they last! Seed mixes and natural treats typically last up to a year, and baked treats last for up to 6 months.

Can your mixes be fed alone or do I need to add pellets?

All of our seed mixes are balanced, meaning they do not need added micronutrients. Micronutrients found in pellets are synthetic anyways, which means they are not in their natural form and need to undergo a considerable amount of transformation before your hamster can actually absorb and utilize them. If you do not feel comfortable feeding a homemade seed mix by itself which is completely understandable, you can mix it with a species-appropriate commercial seed mix such as Getzoo, Hamster Backen, or Futterkraemeri.

I want to make my own mix, can you help?

I cannot formulate a mix for you to use specifically for your hamster, it is extremely important to do your own research when making a homemade mix. If you are looking into researching homemade mixes though, I highly suggest reading through primary sources such as research papers about the ecology of hamsters and their diets. Secondary sources that cite primary sources are great as well. What is the difference between GA and the Flour:Oil Ratio?

The guaranteed analysis of a mix is the percentage of protein, fat, and fiber in a mix. The Flour:Oil ratio is the ratio of starchy ingredients such as wheat, oats, sorghum, etc to oily ingredients such as sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, etc. Arguably, Flour:Oil ratios are much more important than guaranteed analysis because when you are just given a guaranteed analysis, you cannot truly know if a mix is balanced and appropriate for the species of hamster you own.

If you think your package may be lost, please contact us. If your package has been stuck in the "In transit" or "Pre-transit" phase and it has been more than 20 days since your estimated arrival date, we can refund your order or send a replacement. In the rare case that your package has been sent back to us, we may or may not be able to refund you. If the address you provided was correct, we can resend it free of charge. However, if the address you provided was incorrect or if you did not retrieve it from your post office before its expiration date, you will have to pay for shipping to have it sent again, or we can refund the product total.

Why is my tracking stuck in "pre-transit?"

This usually just means that USPS hasn't updated your tracking or hasn't scanned your package. However, if you are not sure if your package has been shipped yet, please do not hesitate to send us a message!

Have your seed mixes been lab tested for guaranteed analysis?

Our mixes are not tested for guaranteed analysis, since it is not necessary. All of our products are made out of food-grade ingredients, so they all have individual guaranteed analyses that are lab tested. Our GA’s are calculated with a GA calculator that utilizes stoichometry, which yields an accurate guaranteed analysis without lab testing, since there are no components in our mixes that chemically react with each other. Arguably, lab testing again is redundant and counterproductive, since there will always be environmental, instrumental, procedural, and human sources of error.

Dried insects and small fish are an excellent treat for small animals and even reptiles, they are packed with nutrients such as calcium and phosphorus and are a great alternative to unnatural protein sources like eggs, chicken, and beef. You can hide these treats in your hamster's sand bath to best replicate how they would be found in the wild!

*Please note that this mix should not be added to an already complete seed mix. This can throw off the guaranteed analysis and Flour:Oil ratio. This mix also has a bit of an unpleasant smell due to the crickets, please do not purchase if you cannot accept this!
