The Washington Monument sits within the National Mall
in Washington, DC. It was built to memorialize President
George Washington.

The Monument can be seen behing a wall of Cherry trees
along the shore of the Washington Tidal Basin. The cherry
trees in Washington DC was a gift from Japan in 1912 as
a symbol of friendship. Currently there are over 3700 Cherry Trees in Washington, DC.
The Cherry Blossom Festival usually runs from the end of March until mid April.
