To get the printout size right, please make sure the printing scale is set to 100% (not to Fit to page, Fit to width, etc.). It is best to print out the last page of the pattern first, as it contains a control square. The sides of the square should measure 10x10 cm exactly.

Made to Measure Sewing Patterns

Most purchases include ONE custom-size pattern at no extra cost. After purchase, either: • send us your measurements and preferred file format, OR • use the included gift certificate later. Your custom pattern is drafted to your measurements and is normally ready within one business day.

Projector PDF Patterns

Made-to-Measure Patterns: Your instant download in S-XL sizes is A4/Letter. Your included made-to-measure pattern can be provided as a Projector PDF upon request. 4XS–9XL patterns: Projector PDF is included for all sizes.

What language are the instructions in?

All sewing instructions are provided in English. Translations into German, French, Spanish and Italian are provided upon request (usually one working day).

What are the sewing instructions like?

PLEASE NOTE: Most instructions are text-based and do not include step-by-step diagrams or videos. They include the sewing steps, recommended fabric, cutting list, pattern-piece quantities and technical drawings. Sewing experience is recommended.

Which file formats are included?

Check the listing cover — SewistCAD currently offers two pattern formats: S–XL + CUSTOM SIZE Instant files: A4/Letter Custom-size file: A0, Projector PDF, DXF and other formats available 4XS–9XL ALL SIZES All listed sizes and formats are included as instant downloads, including A4/Letter, A0 and Projector files.

Do the patterns include seam allowances?

• 4XS–9XL patterns: Yes, seam allowances are included. • S–XL instant patterns: No, add seam allowances when cutting. • Made-to-measure patterns: Seam allowances can be included in your custom-size file. The seam allowance width is stated in the sewing instructions.

Do you use generative AI to create the patterns?

No. AI is not actually an intelligence, but a large model that predicts the likely next solutions, words or outputs. For parametric drafting, there are few to no truly reliable sources, so our base algorithms are ones we have written, adjusted and tested ourselves over the years. They are very different from those that generative AI would find likely, precisely because no widely used drafting methods are robust across a truly vast range of body measurements. So the short answer is: no AI-generated patterns. The drafting algorithms and pattern logic are our own, and we test them ourselves.
