These Hooded Oriole clip-on Christmas ornaments are entirely hand crafted in Canada from saw mill waste wood (yellow cedar). These bird ornaments are approximately 4 1/2" (11.4 cm) long. These Hooded Oriole decorations clip on to your Christmas tree branches with a mini clothespin. These clothes pins are incredibly sturdy. To the best of our knowledge, none of the pins has broken and we have sold hundreds of these clip-on ornaments, some dating back to 1998.

After the birds are carved and lightly sanded, each bird receives a base coat of acrylic paint and another sanding. The colors and details are then painted and the ornament is finished with at least two coats of acrylic varnish. As each bird is hand carved and hand painted, no two are exactly the same and your ornament may differ slightly from the ornament pictured on our site. Your Hooded Oriole ornament will arrive gift boxed with a descriptive card.

While this Hooded Oriole loves the Christmas tree and holiday season, he is also happy sitting on the branch of a house plant all year long. The Hooded Oriole (Icterus cucullatus) is quite orange in Texas and a more yellow color in California. They enjoy insects, berries, flower nectar and the sugar water in hummingbird feeders. They build their nests of grasses and other fibers and suspend them from branches on the underside of palm leaves.
