Most bathroom art has nothing to do with bathrooms. This is a mermaid selling bath sponges, drawn for a sponge merchant in Venice around 1924. It suits the room for the obvious reason.

It goes big without falling apart. The largest canvas is 32 by 48 inches, printed at 250 dots per inch, so it still looks right when you're standing next to it rather than across the room.

The original is catalogued in Italy's national poster collection, the Museo Nazionale Collezione Salce in Treviso, inventory 09496, as around 1924. Not the 1914 you'll see printed under most copies of this image.

The paper is 189 g/m2, made in Japan. Canvas is 344 g/m2, hand-stretched 3.18 cm deep over solid wood. Frames are ayous wood with an acrylic front rather than glass, so they arrive in one piece. If the room actually gets steam, that's the one to take.

Made to order and sent tracked. Duties are already paid, so there's nothing to settle at the door.
