Borden's Cheese wooden box for pasteurized American cheese circa the 1940s-60s, New York, NY. This box's upside-down graphics are clear and whimsical. It's fit for light storage or decoration. Natural wear due to vintage condition, including drawn markings, surface imperfections, and crack on the base. Please note nail heads that stick out on the top edge (see pictures).

In 1856, Gail Borden Jr. patented his process of condensing milk. He founded the NY Condensed Milk company two years later with Jeremiah Milbank. By 1885, the company was a pioneer in adopting glass milk bottles. Renamed "Borden Company" in 1919, expansion was rapid in the 20s due to the acquisition of dairy manufacturers and the addition of cheese products to its offerings. By 1930, Borden was the nation's largest distributor of fluid milk.
