I’m always on the lookout for intriguing pieces of geometry in the world. When I came across an image of a design worked in stucco from the Casa de Pilatos in Seville, it became a fun challenge to see if I could translate it to a grid for counted thread stitching. Once I was pleased with the results, I realized that this lent itself to being a blackwork design.
Two copies of the chart are included - one in black and white and the other in color, following the color scheme I chose to use. I found the design easily broken into four different areas and therefore used four different blackwork filling stitches and four different colors. But, truly, the color options are endless. I’ve provided the black and white chart for those who might want to stitch it as a monochrome piece and would find the colors on a chart distracting.
