How soon can I expect to receive my order?

We ship orders within 5 days of receiving them and currently have two shipping days per week. Peony Cottage Boutique uses both couriers/brokers and Canada Post, whichever offers the best rate for the customer. Peony Cottage is not responsible for postal/courier delivery delays or delays at customs as they are beyond our control. When orders ship the customer will be informed of the courier's estimated length of time for delivery. If the customer has paid for tracking, the tracking number will also be shared at this time. Note that if you live local to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, you can save on the shipping fees and arrange contactless pickup instead. Contact us for details.

What should a buyer expect when buying vintage pieces

All of the items listed on Peony Cottage are pre-owned and either vintage (made between 20 to 99 years ago) OR antique, which are 100 years of age and older. Given their age and the fact that all of our items have been pre-owned, some may have "flaws". We provide detailed descriptions of every piece including history, condition, size and information on the designers/makers. The vast majority of our stock is designed and/or made in the UK and Ireland. We encourage you to take the time to read the full listings and view the 9 or 10 photos posted for each. Questions are always welcome and we're happy to provide more photographs directly to interested parties.

What if my order gets lost in the mail?

If an order is taking a few weeks over the estimated delivery time, and we agree that the item is most probably lost in the mail, Peony Cottage will refund (through Etsy) the purchase price of the item. We do NOT refund the shipping costs as shipping is beyond our control. Peony Cottage Boutique is not responsible for shipping delays due to customs' procedures, weather etc as these situations are beyond our control.

What happens if I mark my item as a "gift"?

If you select "gift" as an option, an invoice/receipt will not be included when shipping the item, however, if you live outside of Canada, the contents and value will have to be declared on the custom's form which will be visible to the recipient. We do not offer free gift wrapping as part of my services but all orders are wrapped in white tissue paper with a ribbon.

What if my order arrives broken?

If an order arrives broken, Peony Cottage will determine any possible or partial refund (through Etsy) on a case-by-case basis. We do NOT refund the shipping costs or customs/duties/tariffs. Depending on the level of shipping the customer has selected and if it includes insurance, the customer might be required to submit a claim through their postal service OR provide information to Peony Cottage and/or Canada Post/Courier/Broker about the breakage for possible refunding of costs through insurance. We will offer what assistance we can but the customer may need to complete some forms on their own and manage the situation directly with their own local postal/shipping service.

Tariffs & Customs Fees Being Charged By the US Government

According to the American government, the US Customs & Border Protection's Section 321 (the de minimis program) ends on August 28, 2025. Effective August 29, 2025, all products entering the USA from another country will be subject to US tariffs, duties and/or import fees. US Customs & Border Protection will determine the fee per item as it crosses the border. Please be aware that since 2019, Peony Cottage customers have been responsible for any duties, tariffs, and import taxes that their country's customs & border protection apply. Do you offer combined shipping?

We do offer combined shipping. How it works is this. When ordering multiple items from a single vendor, Etsy will automatically charge shipping to the customer on each individual item. However, since we will combine your order into one shipment, this usually results in some savings. Once the item ships, and if the cost is $5.00CDN or more different (and in the customer's favour) than what was charged by Etsy, a shipping overage refund will be issued by Etsy for that difference.

Do you sell to customers in the EU?

Since 2019, we have sold to many customers in the EU. However, due to the recent changes to the regulations regarding the EU's GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation), Peony Cottage has had no option but to suspend sales to customers in the European Union. This includes Northern Ireland but excludes England, Scotland and Wales as per the GPSR terms. We will be monitoring any information from the European Commission on this situation. We are very sorry for these changes as we have wonderful customers who live in the EU and Northern Ireland. (April 17, 2025)

Do you accept exchanges and returns?

We do not accept exchanges. We do accept returns if the customer (buyer) reaches out to Peony Cottage within 2 weeks of receiving their order. Buyers are responsible for return postage costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. Peony Cottage does not refund any shipping costs associated with an order.

About Wood & Sons

The Wood & Sons business was established in 1865 in Trent, New Wharf, by Absalom Wood and his son T. F. Wood. They became Wood & Sons Ltd, in 1910 when Harry F. Wood succeeded his father, T. F. Wood. Under his management Wood & Sons Ltd became a large and very successful earthenware manufacturer. Sadly, in 1981, the business went into receivership. New owners traded as Wood & Sons (1982) Ltd until its closure in 1995.
