Easy to use, great for a beginner. Already spin on a wheel? Take your spinning on the go with one of my portable drop spindles.
I made this spindle by hand using quality hardwoods. I make a wood burned spiral design on the top of the whorl, sand each inch of the wood, assemble with strong glue and a metal hook. More sanding and then I finish it with a food grade oil rub, followed by a natural beeswax buff.
The overall length is about 12 inches. The length of the shaft below the whorl is about 10 inches, plenty of room for winding on lots of big yarn. The end has a blunt point that can be useful if you plan to spin it semi-supported, like resting on your lap. The width of the whorl is 3 inches.
Weight: 2.5 ounces
I like to spin everything from worsted weight to jumbo art yarns on this spindle.
All spindles have been tested by myself.

This spindle is nice and big! It's great for plying. But you can use it for your first ply too! This will be one of my go to spindles!
This spindle is very well made, and easy to use with lighter yarns, but in trying to make bulky yarns with a fair amount of twist, I found it to be a little light weight. Love the fiber that came with it. Beautiful product.
