● Gold filled is an actual layer of pure gold pressure-bonded to another metal. Gold-filled is not to be confused with gold-plated as Gold
filled literally has 100% more gold than gold-plated.
● With proper care, Gold filled pieces can last 10- 15 years. Gold-filled contains 100 (+) times more pure gold than gold-plated -
it has real gold beauty but it`s a lot more affordable.
● One of the most important things about Gold filled- it is absolutely tarnished resistance. It does not flake off, rub off or turn
colors. It will usually maintain its golden shine for a very long time if it's not exposed to harsh chemicals.
● Anyone who can wear real gold can wear Gold-filled without the worry of an allergic reaction.
● Gold-filled is constructed in several layers. The core metal is jewelers’ brass. A gold alloy is then bonded to one or both
surfaces of the brass core with heat and pressure. Unlike plated (aka electroplated or "dipped") metals, Gold-filled is legally
required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the Karats of the gold alloy. We use 14K Gold-
filled and Rose Gold-filled items.

● As a common rule, all jewelry should be cleaned on a regular basis, but Gold Filled jewelry is much more prone to damage
from environmental impact as does Silver jewelry. However, we recommend avoiding direct contact with chemicals, such as
aggressive perfumes, creams, or any other harsh liquids. We recommend removing your jewelry when you engage in heavy
exercise or swimming, or bathing, especially if you have a bracelet with a gemstone. Some gemstones are very sensitive to
moisture since they can absorb water. All of these threats may result in a change of color and flash of your jewelry over time.
● Many Gold-filled jewelry owners find that they never have to clean gold-filled items at all. We recommend cleaning it from time
to time because it simply may become dirty from everyday wear. Wash your Gold Filled and Rose Gold Filled jewelry with
mildly soapy water and clean with a soft cloth, That's it!

● All Sterling silver will tarnish over time when it is exposed to air and light. Silver tarnishes faster in areas with high humidity
and air pollution. Chemicals like hairspray, perfume, body lotion, deodorant, bleach, also food products high in sulfur, such
as eggs and onions, or acids, such as vinegar, olives, and fruit juice will speed the tarnishing process.
● Body chemistry is another big culprit for silver tarnishing. Changes in body chemistry can affect the tarnish rate
significantly. Amino acids in the perspiration contain sulfur or sulfides and the presence of sulfur or sulfides accelerates the
rate of tarnish. Changes in hormone balance during adolescence or change in life in women have been known to change the
body’s chemistry. Medications, including vitamins, and chemotherapy can also affect the body's chemistry. Sometimes
chemicals during sweating could have so harsh ingredients that your silver jewelry could tarnish simply overnight.
Thus, we do not recommend wearing silver jewelry while taking bath, swimming in the sea or pool, taking a hot tub, and when
you engage in heavy exercise. If the sterling silver tarnishes simply from wearing it, think about your body chemistry.

Because of its composition, silver needs more attention and care than other metals. The good news is that it is easy to clean. There are many ways to make your sterling silver shine.
- Washing and cleaning with a soft cloth. Make sure you wash the item off in soapy (with mild detergent) water and then run it
under clean water. Rub it with a 100-percent cotton or flannel cloth to get rid of water stains.
- Cleaning with baking soda or toothpaste. Baking soda or toothpaste with baking soda is another common household
item that you can use to clean sterling silver. Coat the item with baking soda or toothpaste and rub it with a soft cloth.
Rinse it under warm water and dry. If you decide to use a toothbrush, make sure it is one with extra-soft bristles.
- Cleaning with precious metal cleaner and a soft cloth. Polish your sterling silver jewelry with a soft cloth and precious metal
cleaner such as Blitz Silvershine. Be gentle! Harsh polishing and aggressive buffing can permanently damage and devalue a
piece of silver.
- Cleaning with a special polish cloth or liquid silver cleaners. Industry makes a simple polish cloth with polish ingredients
already in it. It's called a Sunshine Cloth and it’s great for shining up silver - it removes tarnish surprisingly quickly and
easily. Also, there are silver liquid cleaners (I use “Hagerty silver clean”) for silver cleaning. Simply soak your silver jewelry in
it for a couple of minutes and wash it with clean water.
Note of caution: Don’t use this method if your jewelry has a gemstone: liquid will destroy them.
- Cleaning with the homemade electrochemical solution. You can shine your sterling silver with some basic kitchen supplies.
Line the bottom of your glass dish with aluminum foil. Place your sterling silver inside. Pour a cup of boiling water along
with two tablespoons of baking soda and one teaspoon of salt. After a few minutes, the tarnish will jump from the jewelry to
the foil! (Note: Leave heavily tarnished items in the solution for up to 5 minutes). Rinse the silver with water and dry it right
away to avoid water spots. Note of caution: Do not use this method if your jewelry has pearls or gemstones.

Storage is a very important component of sterling silver care. Keep the jewelry clean and dry when you’re not wearing it.
Place it in air-tight bags or containers to protect it from moisture and chemicals that can be in the air. Place it in an anti -
tarnishing bag. There are lots of anti-tarnishing bags on the market that can be used to protect silver jewelry from
tarnishing. Store silver separately from other metals.
