Highlights
Vintage Goldwork evening clutch is black velvet with gold metallic embroidery. An embroidered velvet strap running the length of the back, makes it perfect for dancing the night away.
• 8" by 5" by 3/4" / 20.32 cm by 12.70 cm by 1.91 cm
• Black satin lining
• Gold and silver metallic embroidery
• Secure snap closure
• Made in India
• Excellent vintage condition; no rips or tears, but a 1 1/2" / 3.81 cm line of stitches is missing on the bottom left corner of the front - you can see the three empty couching stitches. This flaw does not detract from the total appearance - I had to hunt for it!

☺ Pony Pearl: Embroidery using metallic threads is referred to as Goldwork and was popular in the Post World War II days of 1947 to 1964. At first glance, it looks like metallic bead work. The metal threads were usually silver, copper and gold. Goldwork is always surface embroidery or couching, where the gold threads are held onto the surface of the fabric by a second thread, usually of fine silk.
