Vintage mid century 1950s wiggle peplum short sleeve dress. The dress has a short ruffled peplum style top with a large matching fabric rosette at the center of the waist with a pair of ties hanging down. Fitted pencil style skirt. The fabric has a silky feel to it but I don't believe it is silk but some sort of rayon or other synthetic fabric. Dress zips up the center of the back with a hidden metal zipper and closes at the top with a metal hook and eye. The skirt is partially lined, the top is not. The seams on the inside of the waist are exposed and may be itchy so you may want to wear a slip with this dress.
Condition
Excellent condition.
Size
Dress has a size 14 label but vintage sizing differs from modern women's clothing sizes so this is more like a size US 8 today. Also, vintage dresses on average had a larger bust to waist ratio than modern dresses. This dress has a 10" difference between the waist and bust whereas modern dresses have a much smaller difference. This was in part due to the types of undergarments women were more likely to wear then that helped accentuate the waist like a girdle or waist cincher.
